Document Summary

By liberal they don"t mean liberal party- talking about ideology. Democratic is probably one of the most misused word in politics. When someone does something you dislike, people tend to say that"s not democratic most times this statement is incorrect. Citizens used to debate things and whatever they came up with is what happened. State of vermont a lot of municipalities operate with this general idea- town meetings and people go to town hall and vote on stuff. When people talk about direct democracy they are talking about referendum and plebiscite. Referendum- result is binding, once vote is taken that"s it. Send someone else off to do heavy lifting for you as a citizen. Many people think delegate democracy is good idea- we should send off people to do what we want. No they don"t divisions in constituencies differ more than in the house of commons- many ways to look at an issue and all ways are represented in constituencies.
