Constitutional monarchy: authority of the state, a negotiated separation from. Constitution promotes peace, order, and good government. Rule of law: establishment of a well-defined system to distribute power. Had a revolutionary war for independence from monarchy. System designed to block and delay legislation. Government is a problem, individuals are the solution. Ideology: ideas, values, and beliefs about society and how it should be run. But: free market and competition thrive on inequality. Voluntary donations of money, time, food, energy. Compensates for the failure of the market. But: capacity, efficiency, determining the eligibility of recipients. Families took responsibility for themselves, go(cid:448)er(cid:374)(cid:373)e(cid:374)t had (cid:448)ery little respo(cid:374)si(cid:271)ility for the people"s (cid:449)ell(cid:271)ei(cid:374)g. Esta(cid:271)lished for the (cid:862)deser(cid:448)i(cid:374)g poor(cid:863) widows, the elderly. These people had to be completely and utterly destitute, left with nothing and no one.
