Document Summary
Subtractability : degree to which the use of goods by one person reduces the availability of that good to others. Nobody else can consume what you bought bc its gone. Use to create 4 types of goods excludable non-excludable subtractable non-subtractable toll goods. When one person uses it, it makes it unavailable for the next person to use. It is easy to make a profit off. Consumption of goods has nothing to do with stock available. But it doesn"t destroy it for someone else"s use - similar to subtractability. Difficult to prevent people from accessing it from doing so. If you don"t pay your taxes, protection cannot be exclusively taken away from you. Cannot prevent people who don"t pay from using the goods - and the good does not disappear. A metaphor - not applicable to every environmental problem. Aral sea - body fresh water in central asia.
