Technique used to help people who are autistic communicate. Facilitated communicator is trained to understand the movement of hand: help child keep hand steady. People who have autism can"t keep hand steady: this allowed children to learn to communicate. When this came out, biklen said it was phenominal. Controlled studies: scientists replicated study and found that they couldn"t replicate it, one study took an autistic child and the communicator but were separated by the wall. The communicator and the child we shown different pictures and what was shown was that the child typed out the word for the picture that the communicator saw. Studies were replicated because a child typed out that their father sexually abused them: result of bad psychological research. You take a probe and you cut the neuro connection between two lobe: cut front lobe from the limbic system.
