Helps to find careers for people based on different personality types (congruence = a good fit between personality and career) Holland came up with 6 personality types (acronym riasec) It is unrealistic to categorize someone into one single type. Two or three types are usually combined for a person. Not everyone can pursue the job they are destined for because of family, money, opportunities. Industrial psychology - the job of hiring and maintaining employees in the work environment. Organizational psychology - the relationships between employees. Organizational psychologists find the differences between intrinsic and extrinsic motivations related to jobs. Intrinsic motivations - related to the actual job; brings a sense of identity within worker; job comes with sense of satisfaction, competence, personal growth.
