Interaction not just monitoring: might switch toys, verbal and nonverbal interactions, cooperative, starts around 2 years, fully interactive play c. Specific theme: pretend play, by 3 to 4 years, this becomes primary play. Requires acting out and respond to pretend emotions/scenarios. Gives them outlet to try out new things like behaviour and see how someone reacts to it. Intention is not to harm but to have fun. Boys are more likely to engage in this. Unpopular kid in play, might turn out as unintentional play but ends up lets beat up the new kid .
