The idea that physical and mental growth is through genetic predisposition. Qualitative (quality of how you think) vs quantitative changes. It is active qualitative changes come from within you. Mechanistic model; nurture is the main development; no stages; quantitative - get better and better; ability changes quantitatively; passively changing. Reciprocity in development; we influence our environment and the environment influences us; Parenting effects you but then you behavior effects your parents. Your genetics makes you choose certain environment; active in picking your niche. This really affects your development because you have ideas of how things at certain ages should occur.
