Rogers: emphasises conscious perceptions of the present, subjectivity of experience, humanistic, to be all those things mentioned in person-centred therapy. Subjectivity of experience: the reality each of us observes is unique. Feelings of authenticity: people are prone to a distinctive form of psychological stress called incongruence . It is the feeling that one"s experiences does not align with one"s true self: we don"t feel authentic , the individual may think they have, but not feel, an attachment to their values.
