Adequate knowledge of child development and age-appropriate expectations. Home management financial planning, meeting basic needs. Parental competence + realities of situation + supports. Having incorrect age expectation (expect a 4 year old to sit still, change their own clothes without help) Kids place a lot of demand on parents. If you"re not good at coping with stress and controlling your emotions you could go from 0 to 60. Stressors: more common, less extreme, parental separation, break-up, being bullied. Traumatic events: less common; exposure to actual or threatened harm or fear of death or injury (abuse, neglect, witness to violence, accident, natural disaster etc. ) Post-traumatic stress: reflective of emotional and behavioural symptoms that are nearly universal following exposure to a traumatic event and typically abate without intervention through a natural recovery process.
