• As early as the 1900s, death caused mostly by acute, infectious diseases
• People were dying due to things like:
• Pneumonia
• Tuberculosis
• Diseases causing diarrhea and other gastrointestinal problems
• Bubonic plague, measles, diphtheria
• It's not that people don't die from these diseases nowadays but it's much less
common, now death is much more likely to happen due to chronic diseases
