Hypothalamus (controls hunger, thirst, sex, stress) release of hormones to pituitary gland. Pituitary gland (master gland) then sends the signal to adrenal glands. Adrenal gland produces the stress hormones (cortisol + adrenaline/noradrenaline) Hyperthyroidism (lack of thyroid hormone) can mimic symptoms of clinical depression. Hypothyroidism (excess thyroid hormone) can mimic anxiety disorders. Type 1 diabetes inability to produce insulin (early in life)
