PSY 622 Lecture Notes - Lecture 9: Risk Assessment
Document Summary
Risk assessment of recidivism: assess risk of recidivism - we have fairly accurate tools. We have a continuum - we have on the left static factors that are historic, something that won"t change over time so like their history, their childhood. Static factors historical factors, do(cid:374)"t cha(cid:374)ge (cid:894)(cid:374)o treat(cid:373)e(cid:374)t focus(cid:895) Stable dynamic factors changeable over time --> treatment targets & measurement of improvement - these are the ones we want to target in treatment because we think they can change, in order to reduce recidivism. Acute dynamic factors daily/hourly ---> imminence of recidivism - Two categories of dynamic risk factors: stable dynamic: things more unchangeable but potentially changeable so hard things to change ex. Personality characteristics and acute dynamic: things we"d be looking at hour to hour to basis even ex. Guy comes in who just broke up with gf that"s acute added stress that wasn"t there so we can be aware of it and work on it.
