Internal process that may or may not lead to a behaviour. Reinforcement and punishment have indirect effects on learning - not direct! In other words, people do not learn new behaviors solely by trying them and either succeeding or failing, but rather, the survival of humanity is dependent upon the replication of the actions of others. Scientific method: is a standardized way of making observations, gathering data, forming theories, testing predictions, and interpreting results. Researchers make observations in order to describe and measure behavior. after observing certain events repeatedly, researchers come up with a theory that explains these observations theory . Researchers generally develop a theory only after they have collected a lot of evidence and made sure their research results can be reproduced by others. Process by which one"s expectations about another person eventually lead the other person to behave in ways that confirm these expectations. A person"s sense of being competent and effective.
