Types of samples: probability/random/scientific sample each element in the pop has a known chance or probability of being selected for sample, non probability/ non random sample: elements are selected using something other than a mathematically random process. At times are necessary but non generalizable to the entire pop. Convenience sample select whoever or whatever is available [convenient] which of the following is not a probability sampling technique. Purposive/judgemental sampling: select elements on the basis of your judgement; most useful or representative; they share a characteristic that you are interested in studying. Snowball example: each person included is asked to suggest additional people.
