It depicts or describe how unequal our society is. Ways to understand if its becoming equal or unequal in different time periods which understands the changes in a society. It helps understand if our progressive taxation system and social programs are working. Denmark have more equal conditions because the government have more control over the increase of tax. In north america, sociologists tend to use socioeconomic status as a measure of social inequality. A linear numerical measure; the higher you are in it, more control over economic classes, vice versa. In europe, sociologists tend to use social class to measure social inequality. Used in categorical ways, the classes are unnumbered because they are theoretical and this differentiates to what their jobs are. In both cases, a person"s occupation is used to identify their social location.
