Representations of the city offer interesting place to explore the logic of logic feminism and post feminism. Children"s pop culture also produces ideas of cities/rural life lazy town, sesame street. Ironic bc we are heavily suburbanized but weird bc a big reason we move to the suburbs is to raise our children. Diversity, mixed neighbourhoods / class, the rich and the poor living together. New urbanism a focus on sustainable transportation / healthy / more walking. Emphasis on meeting your neighbours; also ironic don"t talk to strangers . The city is a place where women can express their independence, freedom. Sex in the city glamorized, excitement, liberation. Becomes an arena for women to express their independence and power. The power that"s being demonstrated is limited power power through shopping. Smashing the crass ceiling suggesting of women not being able to be gross. Only men owns this kind of humor blah blah.
