He thought that humans possessed the ability to develop and create and thinks this is especially apparent through how we are able to produce the means of life for a growing population through tools and knowledge. Creates the two class system in capitalism, distinction between the owners and bourgeoisie and those who work for them, the proletariat, this causes people to not work as a whole but rather act in their own individual interests. Arises as soon as private property is instituted and the class of owners is separated from the class of workers. The division of labour is highly efficient, it benefited the few capitalists at the expense of the workers. The workers produce more but are paid the same amount, in exchange then workers have exchanged their labour power for a smaller proportion of the wealth produced, making more money for the capitalists.
