Suffrage (vote) women were denied access to vote. Women want the right to vote because they knew what was best for their families therefore they know whats best for the society * They should be able to vote as mothers and wives. They weren"t asking for substantial change they were reinforcing their traditional role as mothers and wives. The women who started this movement were known as the famous 5. They were white, anglo-saxon, upper class women. They were not working class/poor women (all immigrant women were this) They"re husbands worked enough to provide for them. They did not need to do house work or child care, they afforded to purchase the labour of working class women.
