Wife abuse term not used because you need to be married, excludes other violent relationships (dating, common law) Common law marriages are the most common. Started in the u. k, u. s and then canada. Women were protesting, police were arresting them and returning back next day. As mothers they knew what was best for their children so they knew what was best for society. They wanted the right to vote to impose their own values. Men thought that if women got to vote then it would be the breakdown of society, women would get divorced and cause chaos in society. Had the time because they didn"t have to work and didn"t have to do domestic work. If you didn"t get married or got a divorce it would be breakdown in society.
