Neoliberalism (newliberalism) is return to classical liberalism thought. Individuality, autonomy, liberty, making their own choice, and determining their own life path. They are specific social spaces and relation where significant forms of socialization occurs. John locke"s theory of the child as a tabula rasa or blank slate. Locke has influenced those theorists who describe socialization as a uni-directional or one- way process. In the family, this means that socialization is transmitted from the parents to the children. We as human beings are regarded by our circumstances. Increasingly, however, theories regard socialization as a multidirection a process. In the case of the family, it is regarded as a bi-directional or two way process. In other words, children not merely passive recipients of socialization. They also influence, and indeed, teach their parents about society. One could argue that, even within the family, socialization is multi-directional because siblings can play a significant role in each other"s socialization.
