Construction of the other comes to be meaningful within colonialism and imperialism. Contemporary travel ads carry colonial and imperial discourses; these continue to be hegemonic and drive the status quo, lead to normalization of these ideas. Lack of framing of colonial violence and the backdrop as to why these situations exist within the media; one story. 6000 depending on the source: suicide rates for aboriginal females are 8x the national average, 5x for men, 39% report family violence, 25% report family abuse.
