Sustenance a symbol, a product, a ritual object, an identity badge, an object of guilt, a political tool, even a kind of money. It is beautified by graceful deed and tactful speech. Its violent and destructive nature is hidden by cultural codes (manners) Food is an essential for biological organisms to survive. Eating refers to ingestion of food in various forms and by various means that is needed for biological existence. Yet, food is more than a source of energy and nutrients essential for human health and well-being and there are many substances humans eat that may not be needed for their health or in fact harm them.
