Popular : what people at large are giving value to. Sociologists believe that popular given value is fiction. They are what makes culture/cultural practices popular and how are we assigned to it. Sociologists believe that the people that are popular were not democratically chosen. Way of life: endorsed and reproduced by us. Sports originally were folk cultre but professional sports are mass culture. Santa is a folk culture because it is traditional but it was originally a mass culture because it was created by coca cola and it was them who designed the costume (santa"s) Folk culture traditions, involve or originate from mass culture. Sociology is the study of people being together, it is how people orient their actions with others. Sociologists look for the strange in the familiar -- they take common ideas and question them. Sociologists look for the general in the particular. Getting candy or getting a chance to be the person that you aren"t.
