Does the child have the ability to initate games, play on their own. Or lack of initiative- passive/active- doesn"t feel that they can start things- driven by others. How good the person feel that they can accomplish a task. Learn to accomplish- can move forward in education. Identity vs. role confusion forming view of who you are/ confused or certain about who you are. Either you make intimate healthy friendships or isolated lacking. If theses are not resolved there will be problems. Long lasting consequences- different from freuds sexualized stages. Melanie klein we make unconscious representations of people who we interact with, and of our parent- particularly mothers. We can pull up these representations and provide some satisfaction. When meet new people will take current mental representations and apply them to others- if relationship with mother good or bad- determines internal representation and subsequent reactions to others.
