Ex) marriage is a value, monogamy is a social norm. Dominant culture - is the one that through its political and economic power is able to impose its values,language, and ways of behaving and interpreting behaviour in a given society. Subculture - distinctive culture that exists within the larger societal culture. Subcultural groups have distinctive values, norms, language, or symbols they use to express their membership to the subculture. It might based on race, ethnicity, religion, age, sexuality etc.
