Message can be contained in tone of the question, not the words. There are at least two levels in a message. Very easy to lie at content level, but almost impossible to lie in relationship level. Often, we are unable to detect how we took in the content. Every communication comes with tone, etc. when we focus on the words, we miss the meaning. You can have recourse to the content, not the relationship. The relationship slips below the threshold of awareness. Wilhelm von osten (1828 1939) tried to teach a horse to do mathematics. Then decided to teach him to recognize human faces. Horse would shake his head for yes or no. Anything that was binary code, hans was able to do it. Carl stumpf (1848 1936) came to the barn, interviewed hans. Carl realized there was a trick, asked von. Oscar went back to hans, asked him a question and he couldn"t get it right.
