Research - the process of accumulaing meaningful data and organizing them accordingly (my deiniion, not the prof"s). Oxford deiniion: the systemaic invesigaion into and study of materials and sources in order to establish facts and reach new conclusions. Has to be done systemaically, steps to follow. We can also understand it in a much broader term. Many qualitaive researchers conduct research as a criique over what are deemed to be facts - that"s when this deiniion may not work. Because research may oten even end up in more quesions - instead of new conclusions. Systemaic pracice in engaging the world in pursuit of producion of knowledge. Note: there"s diference between establishing facts and producing knowledge. In this course, we begin with the assumpion that knowledge is not an enity out there just waiing to be discovered. It"s a dynamic process of interacions, it"s how the people or objects that you"re studying respond to you.
