1/21/2015: models of society & models of knowledge, we"ll require qualitative methodology, constructivism & verstehen: basis of qualitative methodology, research based on constructivist models, quantitative vs qualitative methodology. Based on the marketplace & the units are people (competitive) Laws order human & natural world: accurate representation of facts & laws, before only the elite could access knowledge , today anybody can make laws as long as they"re accurate, representations reflect reality. Modern knowledge: belief: with the correct methods we can, accurately depict reality/ the truth, anyone can determine the truth repeat & test. Scientific knowledge supposedly unbiased & neutral, no matter who does the study they should come up with the same answer: challenged a) Recognize different perspective : belief systems ex, max weber (1864-1920) verstehen: human understanding: subjective pt. of view, your belief system affects this, different interpretations of reality , based on experiences, concerns, & interests.
