Cmns reading day 7 : remix & mashup culture. 1: mashup culture: to the legoland station ;michael chabon. Kids write their own manuals in a new language made up of the things we give them. We create based off of what we"ve been given by our culture, what we think will get the job done, and things we stumble on across the way. 2: social media as participatory culture; christian fuchs. Participatory culture is the term used to describe the involvement of users, audiences, and fans in the creation of culture and content. Example is editing articles on wikipedia, flickr using, facebook using, youtube using etc. Opposed to traditional old media broadcasters where its one to many. Clay shirky wiring of humanity social media allows us to globally connect and take advantage of our resources by designing new things and sharing. Alex bruns argues that the combination of production and use is the characteristics of social media.
