CMPT 307 Lecture Notes - Lecture 11: Tortoisesvn, Context Menu
Document Summary
Sending changes done on your working copy of files being shared on a repository is known as committing the changes. Before sending a commit, the working copy should be updated to the latest revision using svn update. Tortoisesvn permits messages to be sent with each commit to aid in repository management. New files not part of the repository should be added using svn add before sending a commit. Files within a working copy can be chosen to be ignored when sending a commit to avoid spending time transferring unnecessary changes to the repository. Updating the working copy to prepare for svn commit. Figure 1: svn update context menu(left) and update dialog window(right). Steps: right click the working copy folder linked to the repository, select svn update from the choices in the explorer context menu. Update conflicts occur when files get updated that conflict with any changes made to the working copy.
