Mobile society only recently developed into a focus of academic study. In 14 years, half of the american population could access some form of mobile technology. We need to dig deeper than adoption rates to identify distinctive characteristics of the technology that provide grounds for theoretical arguments about its role in social change campbell. Mobile technologies have deep implications for our society. Computers are all around us, enveloping us in an information ecology that is comprised of networks, systems, processes, technologies and people hassan. We consider how core institutions of society are shaped by these changes. Have to be aware that we need to get to quick consensus. Bauman: society is a form of liquid life, represents the falling away of stable boundaries and going towards a rise of individuals having to constantly plan under uncertainty and constant change. No one is setting our boundaries for us.
