Nevertheless, the vast majority of property offenders who come before the courts are young, have relatively low levels of education, and are poor . Property crime involves taking money or property. Unlike robbery, property crime doesn"t involve force, or threat of force. The main types of property crime in canada are: theft, break & enter, possession of stolen property, fraud, mischief, motor vehicle theft, arson. Since 1962, rates of police-reported property crimes have been > rates of all other forms of police-reported crimes in canada. Police-reported property crimes have been declining since the early 1990s and are presently at about the rate that they were 20 years ago.
