Sociological explanations- - eg; theories have dominated criminology were biological or psychological. Earlier 19th century explanations- eg; the positivist school & criminal man. Criminologists study criminalization process how certain behaviours become criminalized over time, while other become decriminalized eg; abortion was illegal, and is now legal and labelled. Also study stigmatization process- how offenders come to be demonized.
