Crim 103 - lecture 6 - psychopathy & crime. Great deal of debate about what it is. Personality disorder resulting in significant impairment in domains: Behavioral - impulsivity & sensation seeking, violent social norms. ~1% of general population, 15-25% of prison population. About 5% general population 60% of prison population diagnosed w/ antisocial personality disorder. Has good explanatory power in explaining antisocial behavior in general. Stephen porter interview w/ psychopathic offender (po) Po: 6 pack of beer & a good f*ck. When asked about murder victim, responded well, if anything i helped him. I taught him a very valuable life lesson . What asked what guilt is, replied it"s this mechanism we use to control people. It"s a kind of social control mechanism-and it"s very unhealthy . Yea, sure i feel remorse but i don"t feel bad inside about it . Key traits associated w/ pd can be seen as precursor to antisocial behavior.
