Biology & aggression: aggression is strongly correlated with a hormone called testosterone, men with high self-esteem are the most prone to aggression. Social influence: people want to experience pleasure and avoid pain, people are motivated to be accepted and avoid being rejected, people are motivated to believe what is right and avoid what is wrong, door in the face: (ex. Asking for 100 when you really wanted 50, getting rejected, then asking for 50: conformity: doing something just because others are doing it, the behaviour of others tell us what is proper, appropriate, expected, and accepted. Milgram"s obedience studies: 80% of participants continued to shock the learner even after he screamed and fell silent, 62% went all the way, delivering the highest dosage , why, participants obedience was due to normative pressure. If the examiner was not wearing a lab coat, more people would not obey instructions.
