Interferes substantially with the ability to cope on a daily basis. Macarthur research: 1,000 psych patients followed 1 year post-release. Past md alone: not a good predictor of violence. Majority of people with md: do not commit violence. Violence is associated with current, serious md: particularly when they have a history of violence. Schizophrenics at higher risk for violence, especially with: high pcl-r score (11%) Men who have a combination of schizophrenia and substance abuse problem has an increased likelihood of committing violence. Classification system for mental disorders; 5th edition (2013) currently used with. Mental illness that impairs perception and expression of reality. Ongoing for at least 6 months, serious impact on functioning. Dsm diagnosis: 2 (or more) of the following for 1 month period. Disorganized speed and grossly disorganized/catatonic behavior disorganized dimension.
