Jewish chronic disease hospital study (1963): patients gave consent orally. Patients were not told they were receiving live cancer cells because it would create fear. Doctors thought they were in good standing because they thought bodies would reject cancer cells because of chronic disease. Willowbrook study (1963): researchers thought it would be okay to infect children with hepatitis because they were going to get it anyway.
