Traditional criteria of goodness of study often include notions of validity, reliability, generalization. However, traditional criteria questioned in context of qualitative research. Qualitative research frequently based on interpretivist epistemologies. Therefore, criteria for evaluation often alternatively defined. Triangulation - usually means researchers use diff sets of data, diff types of analysis, diff researchers, and/or diff theoretical perspectives to study on particular phenomenon. Diff points of view studied so as to situation phenomenon & locate it for researcher & reader alike. Using multiple theories to interpret data in study. Triangulation, esp methodological triangulation, can be instrumental in improving validity of study. By employing diff methods, overcome weaknesses associated w/ each indiv method. Triangulation - has to make sense & be defensible.
