A systemaic method that stresses the importance of unbiased inquiry, accuracy and objecivity. Posiivists hold that belief that the social world, much like the natural world, consists of paterned behaviours that are knowable: one way is common sense to igure out what things mean. Qualitaive research inquiry: a dynamic dance: qualitaive is like dance rouine compared to more linear, step-like character of quanitaive approaches to research. Quanitaive posiivisic approach: crabtree and miller. This form of posiivist inquiry seeks the truth. *arrows point only in one direcion, with no interacion between them. Connecion back to beginning step, whereby researcher reines problem (step 1) in response to research indings (step 9) Posiivisic research pracice objecivity in conducing their research; that is, they advocate a strong separaion of the researcher"s values and aitudes from their research projects keeps bias in check. *qualitaive approaches in general do not subscribe to this type of stepwise model of knowledge-building*
