Ac signed advance directive medical document in which she asserted that under no condition must she be given blood. Doctor believed that without surgery & required blood transfusion, ac"s life would be at serious risk. Upon being admitted to hospital, ac underwent psychiatric assessment which resulting in a finding that she needed protection. Court ordered that ac undergo required medical treatments as it was in ac"s best interests due to seriousness of her medical condition. Without it, her life was at risk. Ac & her parents filed claim that decision violated her s. 2(a) and 7 rights.
