Crim 355 - lecture 12 - questioned documents. Much can be considered more art than science & most of it is based on indiv skills & experience of examiner. Questioned document examination - scientific comparison & analysis of document. Most work concentrates on handwriting & hand printing examinations. Handwriting - almost as identifying as fingerprint if reasonable amount of writing & it was executed freely & fluently. Handwriting has both class & indiv characteristics. When developed, writing habits difficult to change. Most copybooks show identical writing style in na - means most children learn to write from same style of copybook & will have same basic writing style. Class characteristics differ from one country to another. Will still be class w/i that nation. Most class characteristics established early but some relate to a profession, which requires specific style. Every person has an indiv perception of diff images. Each person has indiv physical makeup, which affects dexterity.
