If victim"s face is fresh and undamaged, media can use that picture. Don"t use photographs of body bc they are dead and traumatizing. If victim is slightly decopose or beaten, the artist can eliminate them. If highly decomposed - will get a image of face by releasing gas and inject to bloat the face up before sketching. Similar to mortician"s technique similar to the person in a casket. Pathologist will put the face back together, make a mask and the mask will be publicized. Half of face is a mirror image of other half. If one side is damaged, can use the other side to estimate. If there is only a skull, will use clay markers. Our average skin depths differs between age, ancestry, etc. Markers placed on sull, wax or clay will be placed on top the skull. Computer generated images can be too lifelike face. More difficult for viewer to interpret changes in it.
