Early postmortem intervals: first few hours (<24h, forensic pathologist. Crim 355: algor mortis, rigor mortis, livor mortis, digestion. Livor mortis - position of body after death: blood falls to lowest points, except where pressure constricts vessels, so contact points stay white, surrounding area dark red. Livor mortis in presence of carbon monoxide poisoning: blood: really deep maroon colour, lividity changes colour. Early post mortem intervals (pmi: medical methods available, all impacted by many variables, many variables unknown, many pathologists unwilling to commit, all factors together -> reasonable estimate. Week 5 time since death: blistering, marbling, early bloat, late bloat. Saponi cation - turning to soap : adipocere tissue, moist, anaerobic areas/situations, when a person drowns, if a person is in a ditch, person is wearing gum boots - feet will saponify, dries - chalky, forms in weeks - months. Mummi cation: dry areas, natural drying of body, body shrinks, well preserved, often indoors.
