Mesh of seaweed snarled these miniatures of hands : literal: seaweed tangles in her hand, figurative: the baby"s drowning (could be drowned by the alcohol) Parched years (image metaphor: literal: years can"t be parched, figurative: poor, drought, thirsty, there"s something missing in his life that is crucial to survival. Foul, lingering death in certain war : figurative: war will always happen.
