Third-wave feminisms - mitchell, a & karaian, l (2005) Article points out some issues central to 3rd wave feminism and to new forms of expression for young feminists (eg. zines, blogging, personal websites) Third wave = refers to a dynamic feminist movement with no definitive shape or form. Main characteristic is an active resistance to the imposition of labels, closures, boundaries, and categories. Attempts to synthesize, build on, and extend accomplishments of 1st and 2nd waves. Believes there"s no such thing as good feminists and bad feminists just like there"s no correct way to be female/feminine/a woman . Second wavers fear questioning of notions of authenticity bc it will prevent women from uniting in a common fight, that feminism is threatened if it can"t present a united front. Third-wavers respond by arguing that this need for commonality among. Women is too simplistic an idea to base a resistance movement upon.
