More imports to japan: silk, cloth, sugar, tropical foods, woods, medicine, saltpeter for gunpowder. More exports: silver, metals and metal products, specialty clothing, umbrellas, fans, art. Permits on who could trade and which ports could be used. Control over the silver mines and mints. Commissioned many trading expeditions to southeast asia. Peace settlement between edo and seoul in 1607. Trade with the durch increased while trade with iberians declined. China, dutch and korea became the main overseas traders.
