Propaganda is used by all governments: i. e. in the cold war we"re just informing our subjects, but eastern europe was providing propaganda. All have an underlying message that we need to produce, ramp up production, and that everything is vital. They are viewed in a voluntary context. Manufacturing consent: an institutional and structural analysis of the influence of power and money in mainstream media. We accept that government and capital are looking out for our best interests: argues that ideology and powerful people/institutions can shape news, five filters news must survive prior to publication/broadcast: The propaganda model deals with extraordinary complex sets of events, and only claims to offer a broad framework of analysis. A first approximation, that requires modification depending on local and special factors. It is much more difficult to see a propaganda system at work where the media are private and formal censorship is absent.
