Poe: madeline as a victim, madeline as dangerous, sexuality madeline"s incestuous guilt, blood/family madeline and roderick shar usher taint (biological illness, moral degeneracy, madness) Munro: blood spreads, stains and implicates, peg"s capacity for violence p 479 about peg"s past marriage using the words wrenching and slashing, p 463-464 virginity and losing it blood on sheets kind of thing. Both stories have ending moments of revelation but they"re partial. When we"re supposed to have a revelation, instead we are left with mystery.
