Depth: we can argue that gender is a social construct where each gender is expected to fit a specific role of a boy or girl. However, when we think of transgendered individuals, it is often that the individual realizes that they are the opposite gender because they fit into that specific role instead. For example, a boy might believe they are a girl because they like to use makeup and wear dresses. Slide 5: part of readinds going to be tested on. Slide 13: the use of cisgender helps us see that gender is a spectrum and that those who do not identify to gender binary are not seen as abnormal. i. e. transgender = reducing marginalization.
