Document Summary

A cognitive achievement, more than just true belief, something you get credit for. Knowledge has to be true with an explanation/account (if i know something it must be true) All i know is that i know nothing he doesn"t have the achievement; he hasn"t done anything to deserve credit for. Believed himself to be similar to a midwife- he himself does not have knowledge, but he guides others to achieve it and also checks the viability of that knowledge acquired by the other person. Plato frequently used socratic dialogue and espoused his own ideas through the character of socrates. In theaetetus the question asked by socrates is what is knowledge . Answer: it seems to be that a man who knows something perceived what he knows, and the way it appears at present, at any rate, is that knowledge is simple perception . If i know something, i must have perceived it -- if i present something then i know it.
